an old style bumper sticker reborn!
D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) started in 1983 to teach students about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco through lessons taught by police officers.
By the late 1990s and early 2000s, many schools stopped using the original D.A.R.E. program after research showed it had little long-term impact on preventing drug use. It wasn’t officially phased out nationwide, though—many communities replaced it with other prevention programs or adopted D.A.R.E.‘s updated curriculum, keepin’ it REAL, which focuses on decision-making and resisting peer pressure.
