Fun retro patch alert!! 🚨

Inspired from the “Disneyland of the East” also known as “Pleasure Island”. A theme park for kids of all ages which was located in Wakefield Massachusetts. The park was operational from 1959 to 1969.

Pleasure Island was a mix of old-west and pirate-themed rides that created a Hollywood atmosphere. Moby Dick was the star attraction, where a 30-foot mechanical white sperm whale would rise out of the water next to patrons on small boats.

The park was quite different than something you would see in today’s amusement industry. Instead of simply walking from attraction to attraction, the entire park was one giant show. Hired actors conducted mock gunfights, train robberies and pirate sword fights at random while guests could look on and were often involved.

Now home to Edgewater Office Park, it is rumored that Moby Dick, the giant mechanical whale still guards the water at Edgewater Park but it is specifically off limits so we will never know for sure if Moby is still down there!
